"I am able to

live a normal life"

James Gosling is a Peer Support Worker in the NHS, working alongside children and young people with learning disabilities.

“I support children and young people on a wide range of issues. Whether it’s moving from school to college, coping with bullying, dealing with low self-esteem, or wanting to learn and adapt to see how they can progress in achieving something. For instance, wanting to become more independent via gaining the confidence to use public transport.”

James finds his role challenging at times, but also hugely rewarding. Securing this role has been “huge” for him.

“My job has helped me to be as independent as I possibly can. I am able to live a normal life. I’ve since gotten married, bought a house, own a car and can choose to go on holiday. Most of this would have been impossible without my job.”
