"Working at a senior
level at the NHS has
changed my life"
David Gill is a Lived Experience Adviser for Children and Young People at NHS England and Improvement. David is also a trustee of Speakup.
“Working at a senior level at the NHS has changed my life. It gives me a feeling of doing something worthwhile that is helping a lot of people”, said David.
“I have become more confident over time doing things like speaking up in meetings. It has generally made me feel better about myself.
Other autistic people I meet in my work say that it is inspiring to see an autistic person like me do this sort of work.
I am challenging and changing people’s ideas of what autistic people can achieve.
It has massively changed my life. I am paid for my work I have been able to buy a car and get a mortgage.”
